For 2025, a priority should be moving from discussion to demonstrable traction. Across Europe, many democratic innovation projects generate dialogue but struggle to connect with mainstream publics. The real challenge is not just to test new deliberative models but to measure whether they gain traction beyond expert and activist circles.
I suggest we include in next year’s agenda: how to design and test democratic innovations with audience-first methods and experimentation to see what actually resonates. This would ensure that the work of this network doesn’t just circulate among ourselves, but proves its value in the wider public sphere.
Nets4Dem could find inspiration outside of Europe. I would suggest to connect with other networks around the world, in Japan, Taiwan or Brazil for example. Bringing a more global flavor to the network could be an interesting objectives in the outer years.
