- Open Source Politics (OSP) is a French social economy company specialized in powering digital open source platforms to help local communities, national governments and international organizations and institutions to implement meaningful participatory processes and citizen engagement initiatives. \n\nOSP has been the main integrator of the open source software Decidim since 2017. OSP has a staff of 20, roughly distributed in two halves : IT+Data team and Consulting+Admin team. Decidim has been awarded the “Sharing and reuse award” in 2019 by the European Commission and it was chosen as the multilingual digital infrastructure to host the Conference on the Future of Europe. \n\nOpen Source Politics has provided technical support and consulting services to implement meaningful citizen engagement initiatives in Europe and in North America. In particular: \n\n- OSP helped numerous local governments in France, including major cities (Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Montpellier, Nice), building the technical infrastructure and providing consulting to the implementation of Participatory Budgeting, public consultations, citizen assemblies, among other participatory processes.\n\n- OSP provided the e-petitions platforms of the main French national institutions (National Assembly, Senate, Economic, Social and Environmental Committee) and as well as a collaborative agenda tool for the French Audit Court.\n\n- OSP collaborates since 2020 with the Civic Engagement Commission of New York City to implement the first city-wide participatory budget initiative The People's Money, having carried on extensive customisations, both graphic and functional, and managed its infrastructure.\n\n- OSP equipped the European Commission with the 24 languages platform for the Conference on the Future of Europe. \n\n- OSP is currently providing technical and consulting support to several projects at the EU level or funded by the European Union. \n\n- OSP accompanied several projects in the framework of the Open Government Partnership, namely in France, Slovakia and Ivory Coast.\n\nOSP also has a very strong commitment to put forward free software in citizen participation and to bring about the expression of specifically targeted communities that usually are marginalized or far from political involvement. In addition to the day-to-day practice of online and physical deliberation and participation, OSP regularly contributes to academic and extra-academic research.\n\nVisit us at opensourcepolitics.eu

- What do you expect from the network?
- As a member of the original consortium, we expect to dynamise the internal governance of Nets4Dem and set up an inclusive and horizontal decision-making model. \nAs a member of the network, we expect to connect with other members that want to learn and share their knowledge and experience in digital democracy and participation, to enlarge the users and contributors community around open source civic tech tools and participate in the overarching debates about digital participation.
